Every now and then an invitation drops into your mailbox that you get kind of excited about as an influencer and the ones from intu Eldon Square are always up there.
With the Summer Drop imminent in the stores in intu Eldon Square we headed up for a walk-in their Summer wardrobe.
Arriving we were greeted with wine or soft drinks. But mainly wine. Of course, it’s always wine and an amazing selection of the tastiest food from Red’s BBQ Smokehouse. One of the newly opened restaurants in the Grey Quarter. Next to Chaophraya and Tapas Revolution which both come highly recommended.
10 Amazing Stores To Visit In Eldon Square This Summer
Reds BBQ
With upturned dustbin lids as the serving platters Reds do things differently. We were about to realise this. With their offering of Freckles (fried pickles if you didn’t already guess). Mac & Cheese balls with nachos for the coating and of course an event favourite sliders. These sliders had a twist they were smaller versions of their best selling burger and used their special sauce.
There was the largest mound of chicken wings I’ve ever seen in my entire life. And a boozy brownie with cream that was to die for. They even catered for Vegetarians with their bean patty burgers too!
This little taster of delicious bites really got tickled our taste buds. And has certainly made sure Reds has been firmly added to the list of places to eat in Newcastle. This strikes me as a jeans and flats kind of laid-back atmosphere. As opposed to somewhere you’d visit for an occasion. So perhaps ideal for after you’ve mooched about the stores in intu Eldon Square.
After we had fed our appetite we were then invited intu the walk-in wardrobe which had been set up for the week. With celebrity stylist Emma from Stylissimo leading a full programme of workshops. We browsed the wardrobes before receiving a full rundown of all this Summer’s hot trends. From 80s chick to Alth-leisure (totally different to Sports Luxe) and Summer florals. To blush and nudes. The style guru talked through an array of interesting points for dressing to fit your shape.

Top tip: the larger you are the larger floral print you should opt for.
Did you know you should always match prints to your size? For smaller ladies a ditsy print is best suited. It means your shape isn’t swamped by the pattern and shown to it’s best advantage. For larger women, a larger print is more complimentary. Similarly, if you’re having one of those days then a larger print will flatter you and help to make you feel smaller. The same goes for stripes. Always vertical never horizontal, but you knew that already didn’t you fashionistas?
Emma then went on to showcase the top picks for each trend from River Island, Topshop, New Look, Dorothy Perkins and more of the big brand names that are resident in this shopping centre. Which is constantly undergoing renovation to bring the biggest and best names and brands to the North East. Selfridges and Harvey Nics wouldn’t go amiss if you’re listening out there?!
Prints & trends
Armed with knowledge about prints, trends and even which colour suits personal complexions the best we headed off to the next part of the week-long extravaganza. Summer makeup with Bobbi Brown, last year we previewed the Tom Ford Summer look for Fenwick’s Beauty Week. So this year it’s interesting to see the trends for the upcoming Summer season.
If you’re not familiar with Bobbi Brown then let us give you a quick overview. Founded by Bobbi in 1990 the professional makeup artist was tired of not having shades that she required so set out to create her own makeup line. Fast forward over 25 years and the brand is now sold in over 60 countries and is now part of the Estee Lauder umbrella of brands.

The fabulous ladies from Bobbi Brown Fenwick were on hand to create a five-minute day to night Summer look. With neutral tones and products with multi-purpose, the collection doesn’t just stop at makeup. The brand offers an extensive skincare line too which can be mixed to suit individual skin types. With the multitude of combinations of products which have been specifically designed to work in harmony with each other.
The Summer make up guide was super informative and really interesting and the ladies at Bobbi Brown Fenwick are really excited to be able to showcase this. Head down to their stand if you’re about and ask about their products.
