November Rain: Not a post about Guns & Roses…

And it’s hard to hold a candle, in the cold November Rain.

For all of my life, the 9-minute Guns & Roses song has been one of my most favourite songs ever. Having being brought up on heavy guitar riffs and obscure music choices, I mean come on my dog is named after a David Bowie song. I’m just glad he’s not named after Slash…anyways I digress.

November Rain, not the song. The brand creates wonderful waterproof ponchos and currently stock 3 fabulously fresh designs.

This a one size ladies poncho folds readily into a handy matching carry bag and makes it the perfect accessory as you head out of the door. Especially if the weather is looking a little bit uncertain. An extremely popular USA brand, these colourful ponchos have just arrived in the UK and are now available to order through Amazon. They are the perfect choice for the April showers or even the June deluge for that matter.

Oriental Bird

I opted for the Oriental Bird design. Which is a fabulous array of pinks, purples and blues. This poncho is the perfect choice for making you smile when the wet weather hits. Made from luxurious satin polyester and strong waterproof backing this is the most colourful design of the three. With the print being printed at the hottest of temperatures to ensure that the rain doesn’t drown these birds or wash them away. The other 2 choices in the range are Tribe with its attractive teal colouring & repeated yellow motif pattern and PNW which is the single colour ocean blue design.

Each poncho is made to an extremely high-quality standard with heat-sealed seams. Reinforced stitching and strengthened snap poppers. The poncho has a detachable hood and a front pocket. I’m not quite sure why you would want to detach the hood but if you do it does come off anyway. I was a bit dubious about the one size but in true USA style. I can safely say it does fit really well for both skinny minnies and those who have slightly larger attributes.

One size

The poncho is sized as follows:
Body Length Front 29”
Body Length Back 36.5”
Sleeve Length at Top of Fold 27”
Hood Height  15”

I absolutely love the design, especially as usually I avoid anything with a bird pattern. It is portable and lightweight and I think it is a great raincoat to pop in your suitcase for any odd rainy days. This is a great Cornwall poncho where it’s always warm enough for your shorts. But not quite dry enough to go without a raincoat. If you are heading to a festival this summer it would make an ideal accompaniment to your wellies and Daisy Dukes.

I also think it is perfect for all of those wet rides at the theme parks and to avoid soaking in the splash zones. This is a versatile raincoat which has a stylish quirkiness and is a really practical addition to any wardrobe.

Giving back November Rain

What’s special about November Rain, is that they also have a ‘Giving Back Project’, where they commit to donating 10% of all their revenue each quarter to various water-related projects. The first project in which this fantastic company are backing is in a little village in Northern Thailand. Teaming up with Australian horticulturists, November Rain has helped to implement the first Waterculture system in the Children’s Rescue Mission in this deprived area. After reading the Giving Back section on their website I learnt that the Waterculture Project is a fresh produce growing system that has been developed to produce high quality, naturally grown fruit and vegetables by way of hydroponics.

With the system being inexpensive, it maximises the usage of natural and local resources. It also helps produce renewable energy through solar power. Which is perfect for developing countries and remote villages. The nutritional value of the product is extremely high and improves the health of its consumers, especially growing children. When you purchase a November Rain poncho you also know that you’re helping people less fortunate than you!
