5 Easy Tips for Getting Your Skin and Hair Summer-Ready

Even though Coronavirus is currently taking over most of our daily thoughts, there will be a time when it’s all over – and hopefully that time will be the summer (and time to get summer-ready).  After being stuck inside for weeks or months, it’s likely that the beaches, parks, towns, and cities will be packed full of people enjoying their freedom once again.

If you want to stand out and really show off your best ‘you’, there’s no better time than the present to get your skin and hair summer-ready.  Keep reading for five tips that will enable you to do just that.

1. Exfoliate

The first step in getting your skin summer-ready is to exfoliate.  Exfoliating removes all of your body’s dead skin cells, which can dull your complexion if left untreated.

We recommend investing in a natural exfoliating scrub – not only will this help ensure you avoid parabens, which could do more harm to your skin than good, it will also leave your skin looking young and fresh.  It’s a good idea to exfoliate at least twice a week in the run-up to summer – and you’ll want to do it on both your body and your face.

Using body skin refresher products is an excellent tip for getting your skin summer-ready. These products can help cleanse your skin, removing dirt, oil, and sweat that can accumulate during the hot summer months. By keeping your skin clean, you can reduce the risk of breakouts and maintain a healthy, glowing complexion.

Additionally, many body skin refresher products contain ingredients like aloe vera or cucumber, which have a cooling effect on the skin and can help soothe sunburn or heat rash. Some products also contain exfoliants like sugar or salt, which can slough off dead skin cells, leaving your skin smoother and softer. Ultimately, there are many different products available in the market, so consider exploring different options, such as body skin refresher products from Evertone, to find the ones that work best for you.

2. Moisturise

After exfoliating, your skin is much more receptive to moisturiser.  This is why exfoliating is so important, especially during the summer months, as moisturiser helps to keep your skin hydrated.  Pure squalane oil is a great natural moisturiser that also has benefits for those that suffer from blemishes and acne.

Simply apply it after your exfoliating routine – and daily on dry, flaky skin – and you’ll receive instant relief from irritation as well as softer skin.  In addition, moisturising regularly will also help to prolong your tan; there’s no reason not to do it!

3. Consider a Haircut

If you plan to spend a lot of time in the outdoors this summer, you’ll want an easy to style haircut that looks effortlessly pretty… and luckily, these are right on trend for summer 2020. A simple up-do is ideal and is less risky than a salon-perfect style that requires a lot of maintenance.

Humidity, heat, and the sea are all things you’ll have to contend with during the summer, and hair that can be quickly swept back won’t be affected in the same way a heavily straightened/hair sprayed look will.  Backcomb your hair gently and fix your style with pins to avoid flyaways, and you’re all set.

For a quick hair fix without even having to leave your home, treat yourself to a professional blow dry at home – the perfect prep for those summer events. If you’re looking for more hairstyling tips then why not check out 101 hair tips and tricks?

4. Shave and Shower Correctly

While we all like a long, hot shower, this will only serve to dry out your skin and hair.  Instead, opt for a lukewarm shower while you shampoo and shave, and switch it to cold just before you get out to close your pores.

When shaving, make sure that you shave in the direction of the hair – razor burn is not a good look for anyone.  Finally, conditioner will be your hair’s best friend during the summer months so make sure to use a liberal amount and work it through to the ends of your hair to keep it healthy and hydrated.

5. Stay Protected

Finally, it’s important to keep your hair and skin protected – both now and during the summer.  Purchase a wide-brimmed hat for your head, and make sure you are using suntan lotion that is suitable for your skin type.

If you do happen to get sunburnt, invest in an aloe vera gel which will provide cooling relief and soothe inflamed skin.  Covering up is always a good preventative option, though, and is important – even if you spend a lot of time in the shade.
