I was talking to my Grandparents on Friday morning after their trip out to a garden centre on Thursday and they told me about their homemade face masks they wore. When I say homemade face masks, my Granda walked around a shop with a The White Company sleep mask across his mouth and nose whilst my Grandma wore something she had fashioned herself which resembled a sanitary towel on her face with a couple of old bra straps to secure it.
So it led me to think about creating a pop-up short-term face mask business through a Shopify Store. I love having a little side project to keep me learning and making holiday spends (for whenever we can fly again)
I spent a couple of hours finding a supplier who would print face masks with designs on, and ship them globally and fast. The globally shipped, and fast were my two essentials. Once I had found a supplier I set about creating a website with a Shopify store. An easy to use eCommerce platform. I needed something simple, quick and easy as I was creating a business against the clock.
How To Set Up & Launch A Shopify Store In Less Than 24 Hours
Building A Business With A Shopify Store
If there’s one piece of business advice I’ve got for you from running businesses for nearly 10 years is that done now is better than perfected for forever. You can have an idea and toy with it for weeks, months and even years and do nothing about it, or you can build your business and start generating money as you learn your trade.
Of course with a long-term business (not like my pop-up mask business) I do advise you to take some time to plan properly, however, I’m showing you that you can actually build an online business with a Shopify Store in less than 24 hours.
If you’re looking for how to align your business, grow your exposure online, increase website traffic and social following then we highly recommend auditing your business. Our easy to implement guide can help you make huge improvements to your business.
So I’ve got the product and I’ve set to work building a basic website which showcases the face mask designs, groups them by style and I even threw in a blog too because irrespective of short or long term business, blog posts and added content help you get discovered by more potential customers.
Once I had built the basic website frame I then added the product designs, set the price and set up smart collections – this means that products fall into collections based on the tags you assign them, so, for example, this mask has the tags black, yellow, white, animal print, patterned so if you want to see any animal print masks you’ll see this mask in that collection as well as patterned and if you’re searching for black masks.
Connecting A Domain Name & Launching
Designs added and the website is coming to life. This was now around 12 hours of working on the site. The following day I added more designs and then I purchased the domain name via Shopify for $14 (was 50c cheaper than GoDaddy) and within a minute or two the domain name was attached to my site, secure and even professional email addresses assigned free too. A great speedy service.
The Naked Mask was ready to launch.
So there you have it, with an idea and Shopify you can build a professional-looking website (without crazy designer charges) with a little bit of dedication in less than 24 hours. If you have a business idea, stop sitting on it, actually go and put the idea into motion. It really is the time of the entrepreneur right now and your leap of faith could change your life. Shopify is offering a 3-month free trial too here.
Now excuse me while I head back to The Naked Mask to SEO my website so more people can protect the people around them with a printed reusable face mask.
