3 Reasons You Need To Check Out The New Lypsyl Products

Yesterday Elle Blonde was invited to the VIP re-launch of the Lypsyl brand we all know and love, and we were set voyage on a discovery for the brand’s new collection of seven luxurious reformulated balms. Synonymous with tried, tested and trusted quality since 1891 this renowned family favourite is making a big step to move in line with the demands of modern society.

Held at the Artist’s Residence in the Pimlico, a quirky cafe with the most gorgeous bedroom rooms, and a downstairs snug, situated adjacent to a cocktail bar this really was an ideal place for the launch of the new line.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by some of the lovely team who made me feel at home instantly and offered me a drink, I began to chat with the lovely Jade from the marketing team at Lypsyl who had recently joined the company, she was so knowledgeable about the products and was so personable too.

Electric Hair

I had barely taken a sip of my drink when I was asked to head over to have my hair done by the team sent down especially for the day from Electric. The event entertainment so to speak was a selection of different treatments including hair appointments, having a new makeup look created and a reflexology session.

I had opted for hair therapy, Charles, the hairdresser, was absolutely hilarious as we chatted about Newcastle, Vegas and all things in-between. He was laughing at the fact I had walked to the event and I soon discovered that if it takes you more than 5 minutes to go from A to B in London then you hop on the tube.

Amazingly I find this a bizarre concept as I always remark that heading down the winding paths towards the tube takes just as long for the sake of two stops. I love walking, sightseeing and stumbling upon places that all these city folk will have never seen before.

As he curled my hair he referenced ‘the city’ my confused response was ‘are we not in the city?’ to which both he and the other equally hilarious gentleman from Electric who was styling a fabulous look on another lady both responded that this was virtually the countryside.

I couldn’t believe that people don’t walk and they now think that a mile out from the river is no longer ‘the city’. London really is like a totally different world, but the more time I spend here though the more I fall in love with it.

Curly Sue

Within 15 minutes of laughing and joking Charles had created loose curls in my hair which were absolutely beautiful. I was asking him for his top tips and he instructed me that I was to clamp my hair at the top, twist 180 degrees and then just pull straight down. It really was that easy.

I’ll report back my actual results when I test this method out. There’s going to be iron marks, limp square style curls and an awful sticking out the frazzled end, I can just tell already. That’s why sometimes it’s best to leave it to the professionals!

Electric has six salons located in Marylebone, Reading, Oxford, Brighton, Liverpool and Edinburgh and I’m certainly going to check them out the next time I’m down in London and in need of some hair therapy.

When my hair was beautiful once more I chatted amongst the two gents hairstyling and the photographer whilst they awaited their next wave of hair appointments. I then moved back to chat to Jade about marketing where she introduced me Anna-Marie the MD at No Bull PR company, she was lovely and really understood the impact of the bloggers in the industry and how they are a vital marketing tool for brands looking to achieve maximum exposure, with longevity.

Lypsyl Collection

We all chatted about the new Lypsyl collection which features seven balms in total.  They have been created for today’s beauty conscious consumer who not only look for the quality of ingredients used, but also look for a range of other specifics when deciding upon a product including function, and flavour.

Each of the seven balms has been reformulated to contain rich, hydrating blends of natural Shea and Cocoa butter, Avocado Oil, Beeswax, Aloe Vera & Vitamin E.  These have been specifically chosen as they gently hydrate, soothe and smooth delicate lip skin.

Discussing over a glass of Prosecco, we toasted to the new range with Karen Hampshire, the Senior Brand Manager, who was so passionate about the range, as it has been her ‘baby’ for the last 18 months informed me of each individual process, that she had worked closely with the scientists and carried out many focus groups in regards to the flavours and ingredients. It was almost a The Apprentice meets Dragon’s Den kind of story. I was absolutely fascinated by it all.

The seven Lypsyl products in the range include:

  • The Original and all-time favourite with an SPF15.
  • An uplifting Strawberry & Pomegranate (SPF15)
  • Super revitalising Cherry & Almond (SPF15), which is very festive and a perfect Kissmas essential.
  • My personal favourite the invigorating Mint & Fennel (SPF15)
  • The refreshing Cucumber & Aloe (SPF15) which is just so freshly scented and probably my second favourite.
  • The sensual Coconut & Almond (SPF15)
  • Finally, last but not least the SPF50 Vanilla which is great for kids and a perfect holiday essential for that winter sun.

They retail at £1.89 each apart from the Vanilla SPF50 which retails at £4.99

Having tried and tested all of the different flavours in the collection I could certainly see a massive difference with the new formula, it was soft and absorbed into your lips as opposed to leaving a greasy layer onto of your lips which I found the old Lypsyl products to do.

I’m not an avid user of a lip balm but even in the space of a day have noticed that the Cucumber & Aloe has really softened my lips and the cracks that sometimes appear around this time from the shift from Summer to Autumn (Fall for my American friends) has really been fought.

I am certainly going to include Lypsyl into my morning makeup routine and trust me, you should too!

With Lypsyl talk aside, we were treated to the most delicious platter including the vogue pick of choice at the minute, mini sliders. They were delicious and were teamed with sun-dried tomato and mozzarella balls, mini sausages, deep-fried black pudding (I quite like black pudding much to my disgust), scotch eggs and salmon fritters.

The food went down a treat, and the staff at the Artist’s Residence kept it coming all afternoon. As we laughed and chatted and even discussed Greggs in the North East, stotties, pease pudding and more Northern things the afternoon was drawing to a close.

Heading home I was gifted a gorgeous goodie bag containing the full new collection, some gorgeous bubble bath and candle set by Bramley, socks, sweeties and more. What an amazing day was had, and the Lypsyl range truly has brought lip balms to being back in vogue.
