As I was getting ready for my spa day at Mineral House on Thursday. The doorbell went and my little Jack Russell started yapping as if he were a Rottweiler. He flew down the stairs and just as I was opening the front door he burst through that too, giving the UPS driver the fright of his life.
As I signed for the parcel I was extremely excited to open it. Now, you’re going to think I’m crazy getting excited over a Duck outfit. Here we are, standing there looking at my duck outfit in sheer excitement.
In our family, we love any excuse to get dressed up for a laugh. Whilst other families just have regular parties because we are so not normal we have had murder mystery parties. Which has given us a right laugh. So when my duck costume arrived from Smiffys UK I instantly knew that this would put a smile on not only my face but my friends and family too.

I ripped open the package and threw on the orange stretchy leggings. Which has an elasticated waist so can be worn by all sizes. The shoe covers with elasticated ankles and foot straps were then thrown on. Yet these for my size 5 feet were a bit flappy but none-the-less they were on my feet firmly.
I chuckled to myself as I pulled on my top half. A foamy duck outfit with a padded tail and again an elasticated waist, with two arm holes and wings. The hood is where the bill and the eyes were. This stayed perfectly upright. As I posed and duck-faced in the mirror, laughing at my outfit of the day the doorbell rang….
Oh, duck…I thought to myself. How am I ever going to be able to get out of this? I couldn’t. As much as I didn’t want to, off I waddled down the stairs, stuck as a duck.
Duck Sake Carl
It was Carl, the DPD driver. Now let me tell you about Carl, he comes between 12:34-13:34 when I have a delivery and he always is taken aback by my sheer excitement. Well, today was a little different and I feel that I may have been the talk of the day in Carl’s life. I opened the door. Again with an excitable Jack Russell barking and bursting out of the front door, but this time laughing as I stood there dressed as a bright, yellow, Spring duck.
He looked at me in disbelief as he processed a giant duck was opening the door. I laughed as he handed over my parcel. He didn’t ask me for my surname this time, instead, he walked quickly backwards to his van as I slowly shut the door with a quack quack.
So I was crying with laughter and couldn’t take my life seriously. While I pulled out of my phone and looked at my selfie I had just taken moments before the duck and the DPD driver episode. Just because I looked like a hot chick, within seconds I had uploaded it to Facebook. With the caption “OOTD – Love my new 2 piece, Designer bird” It received a phenomenal response, in fact, the most likes I’ve ever had on a photo.
Teasing Amy from Mademoiselle Belle I informed her I was going to go to the salon dressed like this, that did not go down well at all. I then received a text from Katie, can you wear that to the spa? Could you imagine turning up at Mineral House for a luxury day as a duck? No me neither.
Good Smiffys Friday
The outfit was the talk of the day and is a total hit. On Good Friday we go across to my Grandma & Granda’s home in the Lake District. We always have an Easter egg hunt in their vast garden and we always go egg rolling up the Beacon and of course there’s always an opportunity for a family photo even if it is dressed as a family of ducks!!

This is funny. It would make my day seeing someone dressed as a duck wandering around during an "everyday life moment". It is indeed a beautiful costume. I’m almost jealous. But yellow is the best colour for my hair and face colouring. Huh.
Oh my god…. I can’t even… I don’t even know what to say, it kinda reminds me of those chicken’s you see outside promoting chicken shops lol but you pull it off so well. I think you should go to the spa like that it would be funny!
