Saturday just gone saw me with a busy day, combining one of my favourite hobbies of a bit of retail therapy with attending another sensational blogging event. I’m becoming a bit of a blogging event extraordinaire. With my tagger of choice in tow, I set out for my first assignment of the day, the fabulous selfie fashion show at Silverlink Shopping Park which you may have seen me posting about on Twitter using the hashtag #selfiefashion.
A flash mob of models was the order of the day, popping up every half an hour with an eye-catching dance routine and a great selection of clothing from each of the fashion stores on the park. Rumour has it they were Beyonce’s UK backing dancers…I don’t know how true this rumour was…Emma, the chief stylist, and the host of the show for the day talked us through the styling for the Autumn/Winter ’16 Season straight from the stylish international catwalks. She talked about how you could achieve the look direct from the shops located in sunny North Tyneside at a fraction of the price.
The weather was perfect for this outdoor event and attracted the interest of many shoppers, a great event pitched at all ages, budgets and sizes. Goody bags and gift voucher prizes were on offer from the participating shops along with offers on the outfits on parade. Each store participating in the shows also were handing out a gift card to a lucky winner watching the show too.
The wonderful events team at Crown Estates and Heart FM pulled off a great day and credit to the Clarins, Chanel, and Benefit artists at Boots who provided the make-up for the models and worked their magic on shoppers with free makeovers. Outfit, River Island, Next, M&S to name but a few provided a veritable array of outfit combinations from day wear, work wear, and evening wear.
We were all loving the Sharkskin grey Pantone, the top choice this season. Kids and adults alike will love the sportswear layering look and metallics again are being featured heavily. Muted tones mixed with florals, pleated skirts teamed with ankle boots and long line jackets are making it big.
Why selfie? Well, the competition of the day was a £500 voucher for a new A/W ’16 wardrobe simply by uploading your selfie of the day from around the park and using the #selfiefashion to Twitter of Instagram.
Mission 1 of the day accomplished and a great event too. Well done the team at Silverlink, a great event was had by all. I had to leave the park and head off to assignment two of the day, the brand new Urban Decay foundation launch.
