With 143 bedrooms, ‘The Retreat’ wellness center, and a variety of function spaces, the hotel effortlessly caters to both leisure and business travelers.

The Great British Break Package

Offered at just £149 for two, the Great British Break package is a splendid deal that includes an overnight stay, a sumptuous dinner with a £32 per person allowance at the renowned 1744 Restaurant, and a delightful breakfast the following morning. Not to mention, the package also grants full access to the hotel’s leisure facilities, which I was eager to explore.

Accommodation

My room was a delightful blend of classic and contemporary styles, providing all the comforts essential for a relaxing stay. The attention to detail in the decor and the plush bedding made it a perfect sanctuary after a day of exploring the grounds and the local scenery.

Dining at the 1744 Restaurant

Dinner at the 1744 Restaurant was an experience in itself. The ambiance of the restaurant, combined with the friendly and attentive service, made for a memorable evening. The menu featured an array of dishes made from fresh, seasonal ingredients.

I opted for the Prawns & Squid starter followed by the Steak for my main course, both of which were delicious, my only comment would have been that my steak was served more pink as it was more well done than the medium-rare I had requested. The Cheese Board for dessert were the perfect end to a fabulous meal.

Leisure Facilities

The Retreat leisure facilities were comprehensive, including a well equipped gym, a soothing spa, and a luxurious indoor swimming pool. I took advantage of the less crowded times recommended outside of the children’s swim hours for a peaceful swim.

The spa services, although not included in the package, were tempting enough to book a session, which proved to be rejuvenating.
