Dear Beloved Friend,
Navigating through the intricacies of my daily life as a blogger, I’ve come to realise there are nuances and frustrations that aren’t always apparent to those on the outside looking in.
It’s a world filled with its unique language and practices, and I understand how this can sometimes leave you befuddled, especially when our worlds collide in the most ordinary of moments, like dining out.
5 Frustrating Things Friends Don’t Understand As A Blogger
Don’t eat yet
Imagine this: we’re seated at a cosy table, the ambiance is just right, and a beautifully plated dish is set before you. I can see the anticipation in your eyes, but just as you’re about to indulge, I halt you. “Wait, just one more photo!” I exclaim, as I strive for the perfect shot. You’re patient, albeit slightly annoyed, hunger gnawing at you while I’m perched precariously on a chair for that perfect overhead shot.
I’m oblivious to the curious glances we’re drawing, fully immersed in capturing the essence of our meal. It’s in these moments that my passion might seem like an inconvenience, and for that, I seek your understanding.
Dining distraction
As the meal progresses, my notepad emerges, and I begin to jot down every detail, every flavor nuance. Our conversation ebbs and flows, yet my mind is partially elsewhere, piecing together the narrative for my next post. The awkwardness peaks when we’re ready to leave, and I have to explain that our meal was complimentary, in exchange for my review.
I sense your discomfort, possibly even embarrassment, at this unconventional exchange. It’s a part of my job that often misleads others to think of my endeavours as frivolous or leisurely.
After hours work
But the reality is, once we part ways, my workday stretches far into the night. While you unwind in front of the television, I’m backlit by the glow of my computer screen, meticulously crafting my next post, editing photos, and planning my social media strategy. The platforms: Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, among others, demand constant attention, each with their own set of rules and algorithms to master.
My lifestyle choice
This lifestyle, this choice to live my life in the blogosphere, it’s driven by a passion for sharing stories, for capturing moments, and for connecting with a like minded community. It’s a relentless pursuit, often misunderstood by those not in it. Every free meal, every event attended, is not just an opportunity for enjoyment but a responsibility to create, critique, and share.
You see, blogging is not just about the adventures captured or the food consumed, it’s about the hours of work behind each post, the thought and creativity that goes into every piece of content. It’s a career that, despite its glamorous facade, is built on late nights, endless learning, and a constant juggling of deadlines and expectations.
So, dear friend, the next time you find yourself caught in the whirlwind of my blogging activities, remember this: beneath the surface of curated photos and polished prose lies a world of effort, dedication, and sometimes, frustration. It’s a choice I’ve made, one that brings me immense joy and fulfillment, even in its most challenging moments.
Thanks for understanding
I cherish your patience, your support, and your willingness to partake in this journey with me. And while it may seem foreign or even exasperating at times, know that your understanding and companionship mean the world to me. Together, we navigate the complexities of my chosen path, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
With all my heart,
Your Blogger Friend
