Add layers
We are heavy on layering here when styling loungewear. Simply start off by using different textures or choppy length items to really create a great lounge look. We are loving the three piece sets which include sweatpants, a top and then a longline cardigan for that put together look, or you can mix and match your colours and textures too.
Layering can create a multitude of different looks, from soft and feminine to sporty. You can layer to look dressed up or dressed down, the choice is really yours and how you style to suit your look.
Styling Loungewear with Tailoring
Follow in the footsteps of fashion royalty and add chic tailored pieces such as blazers to your loungewear. Adding straight lines and boxy shapes to your relaxed jerseys levels up your look by adding a little bit more glam to your chilled vibe.
Steal Riri’s look and simply throw on a blazer with your sweater to add a little bit of tailoring to turn your loungewear from lounge chic to amazing going out vibes. You can also add some cute heels and a gorgeous bag to really turn your outfit into a statement.
If you don’t feel like you can pull off chunky hoodies then opt for fine knitwear lounge pieces as these team beautifully with structured tailoring,
Do choose block colours for your loungewear and pick out similar tones in your tailoring if you’re going for a more demure look.
There really are no right and wrong rules when it comes to loungewear, we have totally ripped up the rule book and you shold do the same! Go and grab some of your favourite pieces and test them out to see what works. You can try and mix smart with casual, bold prints with different textured materials for a really impacting look.
Choose different sizes
Perhaps you realise that baggy is not best when you want to create an Instagram worthy look? Try mixing different fits to create your outfit. You can team oversized pieces with much more cinched in items.
For tight-fitting tshirts why not juxtapose with oversized joggers. Or flip it and choose an oversized sweater with some yoga pants. Adding shape really enhances your styling.
Co-ords are here
If you’re wanting to take the pressure off finding the perfect outfit then why not go for an already put together look with co-ords. More tailored co-ords often look more stylish than the complete oversized look which often has you looking like HMP’s newest inmate!
We love a fitted co-ord as it makes choosing your outfit when styling loungewear all that bit easier.
Clash with prints
Loungewear doesn’t have to be boring. Clashing prints is a whole statement in itself, prints have been favoured by both celebrities and on the catwalk as bold statements and big business. The more they clash, the greater they look too. Don’t be afraid to print clash too as this will certainly up the ante when it comes to creating a bold look.
Accessorise it out
When you’re styling loungewear, as with any outfit, accessorising is key. Bags, shoes and belts are the main accessories to focus on. Styling with accessories can create multiple looks with one outfit.
We love to team our loungewear sets with a pair of luxury shoes to really impact the luxe vibe we’re giving off for our outfit.
If you want to level up your loungewear styling then try and avoid wearing the likes of Ugg boots and sneakers, opt for sandals, wedges, boots and pumps to take your look from grunge to simply gorgeous. Block heels and wedges add a sports luxe vibe to your outfit.
If you do want to opt for sneakers then try and choose dressy trainers and not a pair of gym or track shoes.
Do your hair and makeup
It is so imperative if you are styling loungewear simply by styling your hair and doing your make up you can completely level up your look. By styling your hair and doing your make up it doesn’t have to be over the top glam you can take your look from bland to glam. Cute soft waves and a bold lip go a long way.
I don’t know about you but as soon as I throw on a winged eyeliner and spruce up my hair I instantly have a mood boost, teamed with some loungewear takes your look to a whole new level.
