Fenwick’s Beauty Week – The North East Beauty Blogger Launch Event

On Tuesday night I was invited to an exclusive blogger event at Fenwick’s Newcastle. This was to celebrate Beauty Week in the Beauty Hall. Which is happening Saturday 7th until Sunday 15th May. Anybody who spends over £75 between these dates will receive a goody bag filled with lots of exciting treats. Including Mont Blanc, Nails Inc, Molton Brown and more. We won’t spoil the surprise you’ll have to head along to find out more.

Back to the blogging event. The evening started at Mason + Rye. Where we were treated to a glass of fizz upon our arrival and there were trays of glitter macaroons and small finger cakes and tastes. I didn’t have any of these treats on offer. After a horrendous weekend suffering the aftermath of thinking I could defeat my gluten intolerance.

I did, however, send a cheeky snap to my Mum & Grandma. Remember how previously I’ve posted about football Saturdays at Mason + Rye and it’s a girl thing? Anyways last Saturday we went for our match day Afternoon Tea at Mason + Rye (well I had a Naked Deli) and they had afternoon tea. However this time they had to select two puddings from the chiller.

As they had changed the afternoon tea. Both my Mum & Grandma were disappointed as they loved the sample of a few different small cakes. Consequently felt afternoon tea this particular Saturday was disappointing as it was too much! Never happy these women I tell you!

Back to the event, there was a row of tables all with the different Beauty Houses treatments laid out with appointment cards. There was a group of twenty or so bloggers all edging towards the tables eagerly in the anticipation they wouldn’t miss out on the chosen Beauty House treatments.

I referenced the scene from 27 Dresses where she’s in the store at the sale and there’s a fight on over the last pair of shoes. I had a feeling it was going to be more scrum than an orderly queue. Bloggers are fierce!

Nails Inc

I luckily managed to nab the two appointments I wanted. A manicure from Nails Inc and a makeup lesson from the fabulous Tom Ford.  I headed over to the Nails Inc house with my glass of fizz in hand where I was greeted by Nadia who was absolutely hilarious. As she filed my nails removing the awful mess I had gotten them in we began chatting and she was asking all about blogging. Then we were gossiping about celebrities and we got talking about Vegas!

She loved it just as much as I do so we were on a tangent. Shivani from Cloud in a Tea Cup and Tasha, the other nail technician were looking at us in awe as our Vegas memories bounced off each other.

I opted for a khaki green colour which was gorgeous. Nadia talked me through all of the layers she was putting on and it was extremely interesting. First, she used a Kale Superfood Base Coat which has five benefits and is rich in antioxidants.

The base coat is infused with Kale extract to strengthen nails. It offers a powerful keratin hardening treatment and activated nail growth. Whilst promoting hydration and anti-breakage whilst deeply nourishing the nail. It smelled delicious and I knew by her passion this product was great!

Pamper Time

Next up was two coats of Hyde Park which is a long-lasting gel-effect nail polish. Nadia advised as she had just removed gels to give my nails a break and just use polish. I, of course, followed her advice and then she finished with Kensington Caviar. A revolutionary top coat formula using triple polymer technology for a longer lasting, Gel look manicure without a UV lamp.

She then finished off with the Superfood Repair Oil. A perfect blend of moisturising superfood oils to ensure the health of the nail and cuticle is maintained. I had such a laugh and my nails channelled Khloe Kardashian. Consequently, they looked amazing. The hour flew by and it was time for me to move on to my next appointment. Tom Ford.

Tom Ford

For a long time, the allure of Tom Ford has encapsulated me. The branding is slick, sophisticated and means business. The products not only in the beauty collection but the clothes are to die for and his creations on the catwalk and the red carpet are always favourites of mine.

Today was a masterclass in the Summer 2016 Soleil range.  This time there was four of us for the masterclass including Chloe from New Girl In Toon and Laura from Look at My Clothes who had previously been at Chanel for an eyebrow session. She had gone home with lighter pockets after indulging in their brow sculpting kit.

Taking a seat at the gorgeous, spacious and very eye-catching counter I was to be the makeup model. Firstly the Cream & Powder Eye Colour in Naked Bronze was applied. The colour was amazing in this duo.  The bronze lightly whipped cream was applied to the moving part of my eye and blended.

This was then followed by the sparkle over the top. I usually don’t opt for a heavy look but WOW, this was gorgeous. This was swiftly followed by the Skin Illuminator which can be used as a base, a top layer or a highlighter and was absolutely sensational.

The Skin Illuminator was swept over my cheeks to give them some radiance. Then the Sheer Cheek duo was applied. The colour-popping pink under my cheekbones and the softer peach across the apples of my cheeks. Finally, my Summer look was finished off with the Ultra Rich Lip Colour in Aphrodite.

Which was not my usual colour choice but never the less had me gearing up to wanting to get back on the plane and jet off to warmer climates.

Scent Lesson

After the makeup tutorial was complete we were then treated to a scent lesson where we learnt all about the newest perfume in the collection. The endless Summer of Soleil Blanc fragrance which had top notes of Bergamot, which is probably one of my favourite scents and a pistachio smell about it.

It was absolutely delicious and reminded me of a holiday in New York. This was followed by the body oil, which contains the fantastic scent alongside a little illuminating sparkle.

The session was over and I took great value from the make up lesson and had fallen in love with the new fragrance. We left with a stunning lipstick and bottle of the new perfume which I’m so dying to wear.

After our appointments had finished at the Beauty Houses we headed back over to Mason + Rye for a top up of fizz and to collect our jam-packed goodie bags from all the houses involved.

What I particularly loved about the event which Fenwick’s had organised was that there were so many brands participating it really offered variety. This brings together the ethos that Fenwick’s is built upon. That they provide the very best of brands under one roof.
