As the summer days grow longer and the weather begins to get hot, your natural inclination may be to spend more time outside – and you would not be alone. More than 70% of people questioned reported they spend additional time outside once Spring arrives. Whether you like to soak in some vitamin D or head to the nearest park, you can find many fun things to do during the summer. If you cannot decide which of your many options to do first, here are four ideas to begin with.
1. Wilderness Hiking
One of the most relaxing and health-beneficial activities you can participate in this summer is a wilderness hike. Find a mountain path, a bike trail, or a designated nature pathway to spend a day wandering around in the outdoors. Researchers report the fresh air can improve your mood, benefit your health, and increase your positive hormone levels. Take a camera with you to capture the amazing views of nature you will experience.
2. Summer Shopping
You may need more than a few t-shirts and some shorts to add to your summer wardrobe, so take time to go window shopping. Check out the local vape shop for some fun apparel, a shoe store for some sandals, and a big-box department for sunscreen. Do not forget to purchase a fun hat for some much-needed shade against the summer heat.
3. Pool Splashing
What can be more fun than splashing with friends or family in the cool water of a pool on a hot day? Add some music, a barbeque, and lounge chairs. The result will be the most fantastic summer afternoon in the sun. Invite your friends to bring their favourite food and drink to add the finishing touches on a great day.
4. Volunteer Party
If you want to help your community during the summer, you can throw a volunteer party. Call a local homeless shelter or food outreach centre and ask for a scheduled time for you and your friends to gather and volunteer. You can stock foodbank shelves, pass out meals, and hand out clothing to the homeless. After you and your friends finish your day of volunteering, gather to enjoy your favourite pizza and talk about how good you feel for sharing your time with others.
With so many options of fun things to do this summer, you may find you do not have enough time to do them all. One thing is certain; summer is the time to relax and enjoy life!
