If a business is to stay afloat and grow, then it requires a steady stream of new customers (as well as retaining existing customers for repeat business). As your business obtains new customers, you can work on making them loyal to your brand. Over time, this combination of attracting new customers and retaining them works to grow your customer base and ensure your profits move upwards.
How can you attract new customers to your business? There are lots of strategies that exist (we show you how to in our Academy), but I’ve pinpointed my particular favourites. Use these tricks to help bring in new customers and make more sales within your business:
New Customer Offers
This is the oldest trick in the book, and it’s employed by companies in so many industries across the world. The concept is simple; new customers get exclusive offers when they come to you. Customers always use sites like Signup Offers to find the best discounts and offers for new customers. If anything, they will choose one business over another purely because it has a better sign-up offer.
Therefore, you need to come up with a discount or another incentive that encourages people to come to you. Look at what your rivals are doing, then better their offer! This helps you gain new customers and deprive your rivals of business. Can you offer something free or a discount for them signing up? Research shows anything less than a 30% discount is not really worth having.
One of the best ways to get the attention of a new customer is to create adverts. However, I believe that online ads are pretty much the only ones worth investing in. Most people do their shopping online, and they spend hours a day browsing the web. So, your ads have a better chance of being seen by a wider audience. Plus, you get to specify who sees your ads. This means you can target them at your main audience. Which is far more cost-effective than traditional advertising in newspapers and leaflet drops.
As such, there’s more chance someone sees your ad and is interested in what you offer. Thus, the likelihood of them turning into a customer will be high. The trick is to create ads that grab people’s attention and encourage them to click. A good idea is to combine this with a new customer offer by advertising this offer!
Attend Business Events
This strategy works best for B2B companies, but it’s also useful for B2C businesses as well. You should attend various business events where your target customer base will be. This includes trade shows, conferences – or even something like a food market.
Get your business into the public eye and make contact with potential customers. You can make sales through these events, or you can create lots of leads. Either way, they’re effective at finding new customers because you put yourself in a place where your target audience is congregated. It’s well worth looking online for upcoming business events near you – or ones that are near enough to visit without incurring huge costs.
It sounds quite simple, and that’s because – in theory – it is. Gaining new customers is the easy part; the hard part is keeping them. But that’s another topic for a different day.
