You’re not going to get on a plane without knowing which destination it’s going to are you? In life you need to know how to get to a destination, but before you know that you need to know, what your destination is.
Very little of us set really specific goals for ourselves. If you don’t have goals you’re just existing and you weren’t born just to exist.
If you’re unclear on what it is you really want to achieve by the end of 2018, that’s fine. You just won’t get anywhere, you’ll stay stagnant. Why don’t you have a think and create your goals now? After all, there’s no time like the present!

I do also highly recommend you create a vision board too so that every day you can visualise and manifest your goals into reality.
They hear about your cons, but focus on your pros
Being laser focused is key to success. I recently shared a new strategy I’ve been implementing, where I turn my phone off between 10-2 each day and I really focus on completing my to-do list within this time. Due to being so focused, I no longer have shiny object syndrome. I really am finding my groove and doing more in those 4 hours than sitting in front of my MacBook for 10 hours a day.
As long as you follow a plan and don’t get distracted with every small interruption, then by the end of the year you’ll have achieved those goals you just set out by the end of the year.
Is it better to do a couple of things great rather than a whole host of things poorly right? Quality over quantity. With laser focus, if you put all your energy into a few things and do them well then you’re going to experience unparalleled growth in these areas.
For example. You want to be more healthy (don’t we all), so your laser focus is going to be eating clean and training hard. If you focus on those two areas and don’t get distracted, et voila by the end of 2018 you’ll be the best version of yourself health wise.
Challenge: List 3 things that distract you and then outline how to eliminate them, now implement them
Got a lot of people tryna drain me of my energy
I’m the first to admit it. A couple of weeks before I headed to Vegas at the end of November I was reaching burn out. I did a little between coming back at the beginning of December up until Christmas but you know it was nothing. Personally, I really needed to take a break because I was making myself sick. I wasn’t working smart and I was always making an excuse for having to do work. Don’t get me wrong 2017 was an amazing year for me, but my energy is recharged and 2018 is the year I commit my energy properly and you can too.
Your health should always be at the top of your priorities, notice how awful you felt in Chrimbo Limbo with all the excess junk you were putting into your body? We’re designed to be fueled properly. Eat well and exercise, not just for your external health but more importantly your internal health. Fuelling your body with the right nutrients and food give you energy and a clear headspace. Meaning you’re going to be more productive and use your energy the right way.
This year should be all about you, all about you being your best version of yourself and your health should take priority.
Challenge: Write 3 things that zap your energy and 3 that improve your energy levels. Now get rid of the bad 3.
Please don’t be scared of me, please don’t be scared of me
You’ll feel fear on a constant basis. I’m not going to lie to you. It’s pretty scary when you’re taking massive action and chasing (and catching) your dreams or goals. Stepping out of your comfort zone is really not a great feeling, initially. Then when you’ve done it once, you can stand proudly and say ‘I’m not afraid anymore’.
If you wait for the day to be perfect, to the timing to be right, you might just wait your whole life for something to happen because you’re afraid. Just grab the bull by the horns and face your fears. What’s the worst thing that could happen?
Challenge: Write down 3 things that you’ve faced your fears over and then how you felt after conquering them.
Don’t talk to me like I’m famous
You’re not going to achieve anything on your own you know. I used to think that, then I manifested Vanessa from Lipstick & Linguistics into my life and she really helped with the ELLEfluence workload.
It’s not just colleagues though. Everybody who has ever won anything, even life has had somebody behind them helping them level up. Mo Farah, he has a coach, Oprah, even she has a coach. Metallica has a coach to align all of the members and Lionardo DiCaprio is coached by one of my favourite ever coaches, Tony Robbins.
You don’t need to hire a coach though, perhaps you have friends who can cheer you on or a supportive family. The ELLEfluence network is a great way to connect with people and help push you to the next level. It’s all about collaboration over competition. Once you get that nailed, you’re winning.
Did you know you’re an average of the 5 people you spend the most time with? Start surrounding yourself with successful people. Find out what books they read, what they do on a daily basis to attract success. Don’t just take take take though, you do know you have to give back don’t you? That’s just how the Law of Reciprocity works.
Challenge: List 3 people who inspire you, now list how you can collaborate with them this year. Action it.
And can I hit it in the morning
One trait of winners? Their morning ritual. When you start your day right, you’ll be more successful. If your morning is full of positivity, motivation and strength you’re ready to carpe diem!
Be unstoppable and you can have it all. Even if you’ve got morning priorities, the more in control of these you are the more in control of your day you’ll be. What happens when you are in control of your day? You’re more in control of your own success too.
I have a morning routine I follow to try and be mindful, to set me up for the day and to help me be ready to smash my goals. Here it is;
- Wake up and meditate for 10 minutes (Headspace app is great)
- Make my bed & open my curtains & blinds – the first task accomplished mentally in your mind
- Drink a refreshing cup of herbal tea, eat a healthy light breakfast and take 15 minutes to myself in silence
- Head to the gym for an intense training session
- Return home and begin work (switching my phone off and blocking out distractions)
Challenge: Create your own Miracle Morning, so you’re ready for the day ahead
Massive kudos if you got that each heading was a Drake lyric. He is one of my biggest sources of motivation, listen to his lyrics.
Years ago he found a photo of a house on Google when he was unknown and broke. He printed it out and told everybody he was going to buy it. Guess what, of course, he does, he now owns the exact home from the picture.
