Dog Blog: National Dog Day – Ziggy I LOVE YOU!

This morning I woke up, checked Facebook and noticed that today was National Dog Day, which falls on August 26th every year. So in appreciation for the most favourite little person in my life, this one is for you Big Zig.

From the day we first went to see him at only 4 weeks old I fell in love with this little pup that came and sat right next to my foot whilst his brothers and sisters all fought.

Runt of the Litter

The little runt of the litter, he arrived from his home on a working farm full of sheep and cows to us on Christmas Eve. Absolutely terrified of him my cousin and I jumped across the sofas in my Grandma’s conservatory as he played, darting about.

His first night was so traumatic and he cried and cried. Santa totally wasn’t impressed.

He’s been there through the best and the worst times and can always wipe your tears away with his tongue. When you’re sad, he knows. When you’re poorly, he knows. He’s there with the best puppy dog cuddles.

  2. Loyal: These dogs are incredibly loyal to their owners and form strong bonds with their families.
  3. Brave: Jack Russells are known for their courage and bravery, and will not hesitate to protect their owners if they feel they are in danger.
  4. Affectionate: Despite their small size, Jack Russells are very affectionate and love to cuddle and play with their owners.
  5. Energetic: These dogs have a lot of energy and require plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. They are great companions for active owners who enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking and running.
  6. Playful: Jack Russells have a playful and mischievous nature that makes them entertaining companions.
  7. Alert: These dogs are highly alert and make excellent watchdogs, as they will bark to alert their owners of any potential danger.

Overall, Jack Russell Terriers are loyal, intelligent, and energetic dogs that make great companions for active and dedicated owners and that’s why we chose Ziggy to be part of our family.

He is the most hilarious little thing in the entire world and most well behaved too, he is obedient and loves to play games, even inventing some himself! He does, however, enjoy playing old school Gladiators and will only ever go to chase the toy if you shout ‘CONTENDERS READY!’.

The master of tricks, he knows his right from his left and can count to ten. His dancing ability would give even Ashleigh and Pudsey a run for their money, shame I’ve got two left feet. Shame as he can do ballet and a bit hip-hop. I’m not even kidding either!

National Dog Day – Spoilt Dog

Never before have I known a dog as spoilt. He rocks a Barbour collar, Mulberry trench and is fed on his favourite. Aberdeen Angus Steak. Treats, they’ve got to be chicken strips and a handful of Lily’s Kitchen in his green never goes a miss.

His endless love is the sweetest thing and regardless how long you are gone, even if you nip out for 5 minutes, he’s always excited to see you return and greets you with a frantic wagging tail.

I know you’ll all think you have the best dog in the world and you do, but my dog is the greatest and we’d be lost without you!

Thank you, Zig for making our lives complete. We love you and Happy National Dog Day!
