Putting Your Happiness First: Sometimes You Have To Take Risks

There are times in life where you may wonder what you’re doing, what is happiness, and why you continue to do things that make you unhappy. Are you with somebody who makes you doubt who you are? Do you have a job that leaves you feeling uninspired every day? Sometimes, you have to put your happiness first, and make changes. Often, if you’ve been unhappy, you’ll find that change brings you opportunities and a more positive outlook. Here are some inspirational tips to help you decide if it’s time to start taking some risks.

Escaping a mundane job

Do you spend all day Sunday dreading the arrival of Monday? Have you been doing the same job for years even though you meant for it to be a temporary role? Would you much rather be spending your days doing something that actually interests or challenges you? If so, it may be time to take the plunge and change career. Perhaps you want to try and turn a hobby into a job? Or you want to be your own boss? You may be giving up a steady income and job security. But you can’t put a price on happiness.

How would you feel if somebody said that you could earn a wage playing to hundreds of people in a concert hall? Or you could be self-sufficient by running a gallery or workshop at home? If you have talents, use them. Showcase your art at a local fair and set up a website with an online gallery. Record tracks, investigate services like Nationwide Disc duplication and send out some demos. Ring around local venues and arrange some gigs. You may have to start small and deal with rejection. But if you work hard, you can achieve success.

Calling time on an unhealthy relationship

Are you with somebody through fear of being on your own? Does your partner make you feel worthless? Do you argue all the time or simply not enjoy each other’s company? Even the most promising relationships can change with time. Something that used to be fun and exciting can become dull. Somebody who used to make you feel incredible can start to dent your confidence. If you’re in a relationship that doesn’t make you happy, it may be best to break up.

Happy couple in front of home

It can be scary to think about life on your own. But there will be other opportunities. You should be with somebody who loves you for who and what you are. Not someone who berates you, or wants you to change. Be confident, think positively, and you will be able to move on. The same rules apply to friendships. Don’t hang around people who make themselves feel good by putting you down. Be with friends who make you laugh and those who are there for you no matter what. You don’t need to have hundreds of friends to be happy. It’s about quality, not quantity to put your happiness first.

Sometimes in life, you have to put yourself first and assess what’s going on. If you’re not happy, pinpoint possible reasons, and find solutions. Making changes often involves taking risks. But risks often pay off.
