3 Reasons you NEED The Urban Decay Junkie XX Vice Reloaded Palette?

Last Friday I was invited by the gorgeous Laura Pearman from Pearman Photography to the Urban Decay new Palette launch, to celebrate their 20 years in the industry.

If you’ve not heard of Urban Decay before, where on earth have you been? They are the ultimate in edgy makeup. With an anything-goes attitude, you can’t go wrong with this amazing brand. What I particularly love and commend about the Urban Decay way of life is the fact that all of their products are Vegan Friendly and they’ve been awarded a Leaping Bunny Certificate – meaning they don’t test on animals!

My tagger and I headed to intu Eldon Square, firstly stopping at Fenwick’s Food Hall for a flight of wine each at Fuego. I had the Rose (I’m not sure why I’m not usually a Rose drinker) and my tagger opted for the Prestige flight. A red, white and a rose taster. The selection of wines was average and we had ordered some olives to go with our drinks, however, they never arrived. Perhaps not the greatest advert to rush back I guess.

We headed up to Debenhams in the newly refurbished part of Eldon Square, which is home to other brands such as Apple, River Island, Topshop and Hollister to name a few. It’s the real high fashion quarters of intu Eldon Square shopping centre which seems to be constantly stepping up their shopping game with new retailers and expansions constantly regenerating Newcastle city centre’s shopping mall.

We headed all the way to the restaurant on the third floor where we were greeted by a glass of Rose as we sat and watched Alex and her gorgeous team of Urban Decay beauties give us a demonstration of how to complete two very different looks with the brand new collection.

First up was the day time look followed by evening super glam. When the Urban Decay ladies were showing us tricks and tips to achieving looks that even Kim Kardashian would be enviable of it took putting our make up on to a whole new level.

20 years of Urban Decay

With Urban Decay celebrating their 20th Birthday they’ve recently launched two new palettes; firstly the Moondust Palette which Urban Decay claim it to be;

“Sexy, twinkling sparkle with a ton of depth and movement. Get ready to send your glitter addiction into overdrive with eight otherworldly NEW shades of planet Earth’s sparkliest shadow in our first-ever Moondust Eyeshadow Palette.

Found exclusively in this anniversary palette, our most vibrant Moondust shades yet will stoke your deep love affair with sparkle. Each shadow is dazzlingly sparkly, but with a super-refined, incredibly sophisticated feel (and not a single speck of chunky glitter). We lace every shade of Moondust Eyeshadow with microfine bits of sparkle and lush 3-D metallics—for a luxurious, diamond-like effect.”

I have to say this palette is mind-blowing. I absolutely love how highly pigmented the shadows are and how much depth the sparkle adds. I’ve had ‘glitter’ shadows in the past which have never really impressed, however with this Urban Decay palette the glitter pressed into the shadows not only sparkle but give out a radiant cosmic effect with very little to no fallout. I was so impressed with how much they sparkled and priced at just £35 this palette of 8 different shades is totally on my shopping list – although Alex did say we’ve got to be quick Junkies as they’re super limited and when they’re gone they’re gone.

Secondly, the ladies were showing off the XX Vice Ltd Reloaded palette which I instantly fell in love with and knew I just had to have. Those clever creators at Urban Decay HQ have sold this palette to us all with this description

“This ultra limited-edition collection features 20 addictive shades of Eyeshadow that span our entire 20-year history. From vintage shades that go WAY back (like Gash, Acid Rain and UV-B) to must-haves from our current collection, it’s all here. There are even a few new shades and several cult favourites from past palettes.

With a carefully crafted mix of new shades and old favourites, Vice Ltd Reloaded is the perfect representation of 20 years of UD. Experiment with colour, go for a little smoke or play it neutral. We included three totally NEW shades, five vintage shades, five exclusives from past palettes (like Vice, Vice Ltd and Book of Shadows Vol II), and seven bestsellers from our collection of singles. The kind of palette anybody can use, UD XX Vice Ltd Reloaded offers something for everyone. And this is the first time several of these shades have been available in our revamped shadow formula!”

Priced at just £43 this 20 shade palette is an absolute steal and is super limited. I’d snap one up immediately if I was you, ladies and gents! There are endless possibilities again for day and night looks. The jewelled front is absolutely stunning too and the dual-ended brush that accompanies the palette is to die for.

Unfortunately when you’re the girl who has everything Christmas is always a challenge, so sadly for me this palette has already been sent to Santa (not before I took some photos though!) so I can’t even properly play and review it until Christmas Day – keep an eye out for a video!

Whilst Alex and her team were creating the two fantastic looks, Bobby, an iconic hairdresser from Mode, Newcastle was creating two gorgeous hairstyles to accompany the face glam. Firstly a plaited bun and then a second super sleek bouffant style was teamed with evening glam.

The second look, the evening glam, was applied to a beautiful lady who had an olive skin tone, and naively I always assumed that purple eyes would be far too severe for darker skin, however, the finished look was absolutely amazing and I picked up some amazing tips about using light and dark to create illusions on the eye. The simple how-to tutorial the girls provided was amazing and I loved learning some fabulous tips.

I even caught sight of The Vault which I’ve had my eye on since I first saw videos of it circulating on Facebook. I’ve totally fallen in love with it and feel that it needs to be a firm day-to-day essential in my life.

If you’re in Debenhams, Newcastle makes sure you head to the beauty floor and visit Alex and her team of beauties who will all be more than happy to help you shop, give you great advice and tips and even just to have a good laugh with.
